Chase Levy, from the Today Show has contacted us at www.donnasummer.us and said that if a group of about 20 super excited Donna Summer fans can meet at that event, you'll receive VIP passes to the concert!   Is that cool? or what?

If you can make it, e-mail Chase at: Chase.Levy@nbcuni.com.   He'll get y'all in as a group!   Unfortunately, I'm DJing for a wedding that night and can't possibly be out of town that day.

My "Excellent CRAYONS Adventure"
I did all the things I stated I would do in preparation below.  Got to the store (forget Best Buy--- Circuit City was the ticket with the 2 bonus tracks!)

Once I walked in the doors, I scurried around, like a dog that had gone without water for weeks, and then I saw:

the most magical face in the world, on the shelf with a mark down- special price!  YEAH!
I grabbed three copies and rushed to the register-

(the girl who took the pic was trying to help me with my "thinning hair" issue, obviously....lol).
I purchased the CDs.   Had another pic taken:

(Same girl taking picture added about 50 lbs. to my frame, too.   Darn it!)  I was so overjoyed, I could not contain myself:

It was at this point they called the store Security, so, I grabbed my new Diva CDs and ran out the door and cried all the way home!   All in all I thought it went pretty well.   How was your experience?  Tell me about it:

She’s BACK!!!   (Those who still think that DISCO SUCKS —- may want to skip this section of my newsletter—— it won’t do anything for you, I promise!)

You think the drought in Georgia has been tough?  You think that Mandela kept in prison for years was cruel and unusual?   You think that being forced to wear uncomfortable shoes on a hot summer day  is barbaric???... Well imagine how HORRIFYING it’s been for all of us true Donna Summer fans.   The Disco Diva has not had a new Studio CD in 17 YEARS!!!    Until this year!

Now, if you don’t care about Donna Summer, then you would be better off worrying more about uncomfortable shoes!   But I………….. Shall do a little dance that only should be seen by my closest of (like-minded Donna Summer addict) friends.   It shall require preparations before bringing the new baby back to the house.   So, here’s what I plan to do (you may want to do the same if this issue means as much to you as it does to me):

1) Take the day off work.   Sleep in a bit longer than usual to build an energy reserve for dancing later on.

2) Clear off the “Donna CD” shelf, polish it with the best cleaner available and light a candle to bring a beautiful scent to the area.

3) Eat a big breakfast (watching the clock continuously to make sure I’m ready to dart out the door at 9:39a.m. (It takes 21 minutes exactly to get to the nearest Best Buy Store).

4) Shower (the night before, just in case there is no water pressure that morning).  Then shower again if the water is on and running.

5) Put on my favorite Donna Summer T-Shirt that I got from the Concert in 2006.   (Her pic looks great even though it was 15 years old).

6) Drive right at the edge of the speed limit to the store.  (Stand outside crying “open, open, open…”).

7) Trample anyone who tries to get in my way as I purchase the Divas new CD.  Purchase it with cash (faster)

8) Have picture taken at register with new CD.

9) Cry all the way home, then open and listen to all 12 glorious new tracks.  

10) Never leave home again! Join me?
 

We have the firm date from her Record Company- Burgundy Records- that the official release date of CRAYONS is indeed May 20th, 2008!  YEAH!!!   I'm going to put my own countdown clock on the front of this website.  I can hardly wait!

THIS IS BIG for US in ATLANTA:  Donna Summer is in concert July 1st, 2008 at Chastain Park!   Tickets go on sale this Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 at 10a.m.!  Cool!  You know where I'll be on July 1st, 2008!
I'll be reporting here on the concert the day after!

The title is out now!   Donna's new CD is entitled "CRAYONS"!
To be released in May 2008!
According to Cathy at www.donna-tribute.com , a new dance remix of "I'M A FIRE" has already been sent out to clubs, drawing infectious dancing whenever it's played!
The new single for the radio will be "STOMP YOUR FEET" and will be released to radio in March, 2008!  (Could it be on i-tunes before May, also? We'll see!) 

Ladies and Gentlemen....
The "long, dark night of the no-Donna soul" is almost over!   Hold on another month and we'll all be dancing our buns off to brand new Donna Summer music!
(It's good to be alive, isn't it?)

Donna Summer nominated for induction in the  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
How many years have we known that this would be appropriate and deserved?- (How long has the world been created?)  It's ABOUT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
We've all known how much Donna has contributed to music and America's pop culture.   She deserves to be remembered  for generations to come and this is the best way to ensure that honor.  

Other nominees include:  Madonna, Nadge, John Mellencamp, Beastie Boys, Chic, Afrika Bambaataa, Leonard Cohen, and the Dave Clark Five.

500 musicians, industry professionals and journalists vote on the inductions.  (Where do I sign up?)  The 5 winners will be announced at the gala held at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

After months of no updates on the official www.donnasummer.com, there is movement.   The old site is GONE!   It's just been replaced with the following:

This is the closest thing we've gotten "officially" from the Diva that there really is a new CD coming out in the spring of 2008.   The website will be updated as well as a new tour planned.   So, take heart!- Oh, ye weary Donna Summer loyalists and "fan"atics (myself included)... Summer 2008 will be filled with great new music!   I can't wait!

The big question: "WHEN is the new CD going to be released?"
We are a bit closer to knowing now, since the find (by Cathy on Donna-Tribute) in an article from ProSoundNews.com    

For this Writer/Producer, I found this article very interesting as to the types of musical techniques and sound generators they are using on Donna's new tracks.   You can bet I'll be shopping for the Plug-Ins they have mentioned. :-)

"Total Insanity" is assured if this CD does not come out in 2008 as promised.   I'm a bit disappointed that the CD will not be ready this year, as we'd hoped, but at least there are some actual titles to look forward to instead of only- "we're working on the project" news!   So, let that help all of us die-hard fans sleep  much better tonight!
